Practical Ministry Coaching

Over 30 years of ministry experience

I believe that peer to peer ministry is the foundation for developing students into leaders.  Developing this concept over my 30 years in youth ministry, I have helped to launch many students into full time ministry and now have started to send students overseas into full time mission work.

About Kevin

Kevin started in youth ministry under Paul Abner at Lakeside Assembly in Oklahoma City in 1987.   Paul was a veteran youth minister who had been at Lakeside fifteen year.   After serving with him for five and half years, as one of the nations first junior high pastors, Kevin moved to a small church in Owasso, Oklahoma.   Starting with twelve students in 1994, Xtreme Youth Ministries quickly grew to over 200 students within the first couple of years.

Kevin developed Family Groups within just a few years and its implementation became a trademark of Xtreme. Peer to peer ministry is the foundation for developing students into leaders.  Developing this concept over his 30 years in youth ministry, Kevin has helped to launch many students into full time ministry and now has started to send students overseas into full time mission work.

Kevin is passionate about helping other youth pastors succeed. Paul Abner handed him fifteen years of practical youth pastor experience as a young intern.  Kevin took that foundation and built upon it and he believes now is the time for him to hand to others that same knowledge and wisdom.

Kevin holds a bachelor's degree in Pastoral Ministry from Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma.  He holds a  master's degree in Applied Theology from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He has earned his Doctor of Leadership degree in Leadership and Global Perspectives from Portland Seminary at George Fox University in Portland, Oregon.

Kevin is married to Ann Norwood, RN, who is a Clinical Documentation Specialist and has two children, Maci, who is an horseman and works for the City of Owasso and his son London who is a seventh grader that plays tennis and runs a golf ball business.

Getting an opportunity to be involved with Kevin Norwood through his Cohort program has been one of the most impactful experiences of my ministry. The wisdom, insight, and experience that Kevin brings to the group is so valuable for our development. Perhaps Kevin’s greatest gift to the group is his willingness to be transparent and raw on the struggles he has faced and the lessons he has learned. Kevin, in my mind, is the example of what a great leader is!
